Retro Game Review: Zelda Oracle of Seasons

I bought this on the 3DS e-store a while back for $5 and figured I would give it a shot during the quarantine.
I honestly have no idea how I played these games as kids without strategy guides. I remember roaming around when I had this on GBC, never having any idea what to do. I'm trying to avoid using walkthroughs this time around but still have to take a peak every now and then.
Anyways this game is just the right level of difficulty for a Zelda game, especially considering the last one I completed was Link Between Worlds, which was laughably easy. Very impressive for a GBC game and a great way to burn some time while taking a trip down memory lane.
Apparently Ages is harder, so will probably start that up next. I feel like these games are pretty underrated in the series because I rarely ever hear about them anymore.

I actually played through it a few months ago randomly, have a backlog of old games to replay and it was on there. I hadn't played it since it came out and of course barely remembered it. I still have to do Seasons.
Yes it was difficult relative to the average Zelda game, dying to the bosses was commonplace. There's also way less handholding than in a lot of Zelda games, the bosses weak points aren't always 100% obvious and there isn't some annoying companion popping up to tell you what to do. There's also a water temple with water levels you gotta adjust much like OOT and yes, it was confusing at times.
One thing I didn't realize until a few months ago is that the "Oracle" Zelda games were actually developed primarily by Capcom, not Nintendo, which might explain the harder than normal difficulty.

Seasons and ages are both great games.
I haven’t either since they came out. I am having some PRIMA strategy guide nostalgia thinking about it

I tried to play zelda II: the adventure of Link. But I just gave up. Its laughably hard. Maybe I should give oracle of seasons a go
