I thought I saw if you file by 4/6 they will use 2019 return and if filed after it will use 2018. Is that correct?

Not sure but could definitely be a strategic move for some people depending on how those years match up if they haven't filed yet.

According to LSUFanHouston who claimed to have insider information it doesn’t matter. This is an advance on your 2020 return. So what matters is your 2020 AGI is less than $75k. If you strategically file your return to fall under that limit come 2020 tax time the advance will have a clawback.

We made considerably more in 2019 than 2018. I guess we will just wait until after 4/6 to file 2019.
