Checks out, they both have some anti inflammatory effects as well as chloro’s immunosuppressive effects.
The way I heard it explained was the pneumonia is mostly a result of the nasty effects of the immune response in the lungs. I mean even if it doesn’t really kill the virus it’s still worth it as a supportive measure, and to calm your immune system down enough to attack the virus and not you.

This is why the anti-IL6 drug tocilizimab was pushed for by the administration and commercial insurance agreed to re-imburse
