Maybe not. From Faire (French)-to do, or to make. Distinctively New Orleans respecting groceries. As in "I took my Mom to Dorignac's to make groceries." However, given TulaneLSU's well documented difficulties with Bucktown Shrimper Captain Mike, and TulaneLSU's distinctively Uptown sensibilities, I agree that a sentence like "I went by my Momma's after I made groceries to wash my hands in her zinc because I got earl on them at the gas station." does not seem to readily and easily spring from the TulaneLSU tongue or naturally reside in his lexicon.
But, I could be wrong. I think assholy might be a stretch. If anything, his use of the idiom strikes me as a pleasant, well intended social condescension to assist in his mingling with us plebeians.
