just touching the ball is not possession. I think he starts to yield possession before he crosses the goal line, even though he is still touching the ball a yard into the endzone. Technically, it could have been an OU touchback. However, no one questioned it because it would have been stupid nit picking. And it would have been considered too close to be incontrivertible. Thats one of those things I wish backs wouldn't do.

Amen on that. A few years ago I saw a game and the player dropped ball when he crossed the 5 yard line thinking he had gone into the endzone. He got his arse chewed out for that.
