That was back in a time when retail jobs were actually respectable. Before the companies figured out Ameriquananesha would do the job for minimum wage instead.

Hilarious that you assume retail pays minimum wage. I worked for a home improvement chain years back, they start part timers around $11+ an hour. There are multiple full time hourly employees making $18-$25 an hour in those places. The issue is the filthy rich shareholders cutting labor down to nothing, it's also taxing having to deal with ignorant assholes all day.
