Plastic is the cornerstone of planned obsolescence. Without it, things could be repaired.
Plastic shatters and breaks after a time period (plus heat plus sunlight). Car interiors rot, in their own special way. Leather car seats outlast dashboards.
Plastic jars...for long term storage are a laugh.
I had a max min thermometer: the thermometer part in glass is still good, sadly the plastic that had the temperature gradations failed catastrophically and it had not had 'that' much exposure to sunlight.
