Nobody calls Ali Cassius Clay. Why is this different?
One of the worst parts about #woke culture (and there are plenty) is the every bit as bad anti woke culture. Even when it’s something small and relatively insignificant (like recognizing what his name has been for the last 25 years) there’s an unjustifiable resistance to recognize it.

When UCLA retired #33 in 1990, they did it for Kareem Abdul Jabbar (not Lew Alcindor). Seems appropriate then, and appropriate now.
