Every year we have this panic about baseball....

And almost every year we're playing for Omaha. How many times do you have to see this movie ?

They never learn. They literally forget that they had these same nightmares the last 15 years in a row.

LSU’s lost more games in back to back seasons the last two years than any time since 1984.

I totally get your point. Everybody right now is playing FOR Omaha though. We need to play IN Omaha a bit more. That's the concern.

And yet we were a series win away from Omaha last year... with injuries all over pitching staff.

Eliminated at home in the postseason once again

It’s because of us. We bitch on the Rant, the players sit at bogies after the game reading it and think “damn we need to get our shite together!”

That's what the OP is missing. No matter what, there will be people, like this, who move the bar to wherever LSU is eliminated because they just want Mainieri gone.
Lost in a super... Mainieri can't make it to Omaha.
Lose in the WS... Mainieri can't win in Omaha.
Lose in the WS Finals... Mainieri can't finish it off.

I don’t have a problem with LSU losing games they’re not supposed to win. LSU went out to Oregon State and got crushed in 2018. That’s okay. They were a lot better and it was a down year for LSU after making the CWS finals. LSU’s problem now is not taking care of business at home.
Since the 2009 national championship LSU’s been eliminated at home more times than they’ve advanced to Omaha.
CWS is 2013, 2015, 2017
Eliminated at home in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019

Imagine being eliminated more times than making the college World Series. We must be in unique company.

That’s just at home.
LSU was eliminated on the road in 2010 and 2018.
And didn’t make the tournament at all in 2011.
3 trips to Omaha in 10 years. Not good enough for LSU baseball.

PM did a great job last year with all the arm injuries, that's all I know.

The goal every single season should be reaching a SR, if you are LSU. I think anything beyond that is asking a whole lot. It means you are a very good team, and you will be playing a really good team. Anything can happen over a 3 game set.
Of course, some years you will be a bit better, or will get the breaks and you are in Omaha.
But like I said, regardless of where this team finishes, the bar will be moved. If LSU wins the title, there will still be people saying that they won in despite of Mainieri.

I agree that setting out with a bar of making a super regional is a reasonable place for the fanbase to be.
But the bar can change based on how the year plays out. If LSU’s playing at home in June they need to win. It’s baseball.. stuff happens. Even Skip was eliminated at home a couple of times in the 90s. But it wasn’t 4 times in 8 years.

They get eliminated at home because in most cases they don’t deserve to be playing at home in the first place. They get the national seed or host because of the usual run through the SEC tournament and the name on the hat.

Maineri has continued to lower the expectations of the program. A SEC Tournament championship gets everyone excited these days.

I don't really disagree with you. That's why I said this.

There was a point in time where an SEC Championship (tourney or regular season) wasn't something to be excited about?
