If so, y'all have fun! I think it's great for the city's cruise business that all 6 of the Disney cruises sold out.

I do too. Same thing happened last time they sent a ship here.

We took our first family cruise out of here on Norwegian for Thanksgiving two years ago. It went really well and I was thinking about doing another in late May or early June for a graduation trip for my daughter. The ships leaving out of Nola and Galveston at that time are pretty weak and the ports are kind of lame.

I'm guessing when we take our next cruise we will fly to Florida or Puerto Rico to take a different route.

5 days out of Florida can get you three good ports. 5 days out of NOLA and Galveston get you some combo of Cozumel / Progresso / Costa Maya / maybe Belize.

People love to cruise out of NOLA because of 1) being in the river is a different experience and 2) they can stay here a few days before/after. I like it because I live 25 min away.

But... I'm tired of the same ports, anything to eastern caribbean is 7 day min out of here. And, we don't have the market to fill the mega-ships.

This is why we quit cruising. We loved it but have been to literally every stop on the 5-7 day cruises. We can’t afford to be gone much more than a week (not because of money but we have a dog and responsibilities at home that make it hard to be gone any longer). If we wanted to hit new ports we would have to fly to Florida and then the cost just seems outrageous and, again, the amount of days gets too long when you add in travel days. I think we have resigned to just waiting until we no longer have a dog to do our dream cruises (Baltic, Med, Hawaiian, etc)

Also, like you said, New Orleans doesn’t get the newest biggest ships with the best amenities. That’s always kind of a bummer.

I'll be on this cruise. Looking forward to it. I've actually never done a cruise before.
