Kitchen Appliances - Gas Cooktop Help

I’m looking to replace an existing 30” electric cooktop with a 36” gas cooktop. There is gas service provided, but the previous owner preferred the electric.
The cabinet below the cook-top is 36” outside / 34.5” inside width. Looking at the LG model LCG3611ST, the upper mounting flange is 36” wide, and the cutout has to be 33-15/16” wide. Of course, I could physically expand the opening, but there would only be ~0.25” clearance between the cooktop and each cabinet side wall.
Is this acceptable? Is there a code that governs the installation clearances? Does the cooktop unit have built-in thermal insulation to protect the lower cabinet walls?
Aside from the above dimensions, I can’t find any other installation tolerances / clearance requirements in the Manufacturer’s Manuals.
TIA

cooktop should fit fine but do you have a hood or microwave range? I would think that’s gonna be getting crowded

Currently there is a microwave with vent installed, and you’re right—the clearance over the stove is already extremely tight. We’re looking at removing the microwave and installing a vent hood, then separately a dual wall oven system that includes the combination Microwave/Convection Oven on top.

Vented to outside? Or just back into the kitchen.
