I don't really watch this show much, but the wife does. So I see bits and pieces of it. I walked in on Wayne singing, and I immediately knew. I went back and watch the clues and I tied nearly every one to Wayne. I used to be a massive Lil Wayne homer though.

My guess is that they signed him up for the show for one week. They wanted his mask to be pulled off first to get tons and tons of people excited/and talking about the show. You get the reaction of, "OMG Lil Wayne was off the masked singer first, I have to see who else there is." And BAM... People are hooked.

There is also zero, and I mean zero chance that almost every judge didn't know it was him. A bunch even said they work closely with him. There is no denying that voice. Even his talking was text book Lil Wayne. That was another set up, to get people watching.

I do think that the show gets a little more legit, and less scripted as it goes though. But I think everything about that show last night was by design.
