came across a couple bottles of 8, 12, and 15 year. any thoughts? can’t find much info on them and appear hard to come by. worth buying a bottle or two to collect?

It all depends on price. What is your location? They get good reviews from what I have seen but unless you have an expendable income for that type of thing, there are other cheaper options that will fit the same bill.

$160-$240 for 8 and 12 yr. $500 for 15 yr (which I’m not considering).

More hype than quality imo. Too expensive for what you get. I've only tasted the 12 year.

Saw this today and remembered this thread. So to modify my answer above, I assume I tasted the new stuff, and I assume that's what OP was looking at.

No info for OP, but my baw at my local store got a couple in last week, a 7-year and a 8-year, and he said it was the first bottles they had seen sell at retail in 15 years.

I’ve never seen it in person.

so when i first came across the bottles of old st nick last week, they showed up with bottles of rare perfection, which lines up with your story. after I saw these bottles, i called a couple of specs stores to see if they knew anything about them. they never heard of st nick and it wasn’t in their system of ever having. coincidentally, i go into specs today and they have both the st nicks and rare perfection in the allocated/reserve cabinet which at least provides a bit of credibility to the brand.
