Be real. this wasn't some Random dude. You think a man worth 500 million isn't going to have one of the best of the best private pilots.

even if he was one of the best private pilots, he wasn't smart enough or good enough to realize that they didn't have acceptable weather.

You never know with rumors and info during incidents like this, but there was some talk about this not being his normal pilot.
ETA - Now that the pilot’s name has been released, it appears he did regularly fly for Kobe and his family.

The best pilots fly commercial.
Most pilots fly private to accumulate hours for a commercial license. For regular planes at least, not sure if that's the case for helicopters.

Seeing as he was flying every day in a 29 year old chopper that had several previous owners, an $11 million craft new that he paid a mere $500k for, I sort of question it.
