Is it your suggestion that for every post I make I simply ignore ten posts insulting my morals, my intelligence, my parentage and my personal grooming?

Only if you want to really sell your ideas.

Think about the courtroom. You clearly don’t sell anything in the seller buyer sense but you do sell in the courtroom.

Would your insults help or hurt in the courtroom regardless of being insulted first or not?

I don’t know how you started your journey here but I do see why folks are “resistant” to your ideas.

In candor, responding in kind to the sort of idiot that started this exchange works as a bit of a catharsis for me,

You are correct. In court, I simply cannot call an idiot an idiot, so I must continue to employ reason against even the dumbest conceivable arguments. I admit that it just feels good sometimes to tell a fricking retard exactly how stupid he really is.

It really is not that different from the typical Trump pep rally poster who starts two threads per week verbally fellating Trump. For whatever reason, it makes them feel good, too.

I generally avoid those threads, and it would be nice if the pep rally posters would reciprocate by avoiding the threads in which people are trying to have an objective discussion of policy or a reasoned analysis of a given issue. They don’t, and it is generally the pep rally posters who send us off on these pointless tangents.

The difference from the courtroom analogy is that (in a courtroom), I am usually presenting a case to one person ... who is generally intelligent and generally trying to be objective. Yes, there are posters here who are intelligent and there are posters who try to be objective, but it is my experience that both are in the distinct minority. The pep rally posters outnumber them by a significant margin.
