I really don't think that the team isn't trying to win. The players certainly aren't non-concerned with winning. Gentry certainly isn't non-concerned with winning. That's what makes this strategy so confusing to me. It actively hurts a team that's 3 back from the 8th seed with 40 games left.

Look, I want the team to win as much as possible, but really what does the 8th seed matter at all? Just means getting beat down by the Lakers, it's meaningless. This season doesn't matter as far as the playoffs go. The organizational goal for this season is not to be the 8th seed.
