From the A&M game on, our D was lights out.

From week one on, when the defense needed to get a stop they always came through.

They were definitely dominant at the end of the year, but they were clutch all season.

With an offense like we had this year, the number of stops via punt, turnover or turnover on downs relative to the number of total possessions is a much better gauge than traditional metrics like yards and points allowed. When we needed stops, we got them.

Aranda wasn’t perfect. His defenses could have done a better job at pressuring the quarterback and forcing turnovers. But to criticize over that is petty given the bottom line.

Winning is all that matters. I’ll take Aranda’s LSU defense that gave up 20 ppg over Venables’ defense that gave up 10 ppg, but surrendered 628 yards (should have been more like 670 if Chase catches that pass in the endzone) and 42 points (could have easily been 59 if LSU doesn’t make uncharacteristic mistakes and show mercy late in the 4th) when it mattered most.

Reality is LSU’s defense probably holds opponents to 10 ppg give or take and 240 or so ypg playing Clemson’s schedule.

People who aren’t LSU fans or rabid CFB fans don’t comprehend the gauntlet of elite teams LSU destroyed just to get to the championship game, then win it in blowout fashion.

Exactly. Yet people wanna bitch and moan and shite on Aranda like he wasn’t a good DC. Good grief. The man didn’t just get a P5 HC gig because he’s a scrub.
