Bama player commits..immediate rise in rank
This was actually addressed in a recent 247 College Football Daily Podcast. They specifically mentioned the Bama Bump and talked about how a guy as good as Jefferson could end up as a 2 or 3 star.
They started about by strongly defending the star system based on NFL Draft stats. But that’s just the Draft. They didn’t go further into how they correlate with NFL success. They did admit that not seeing everyone for direct evals plays into some misses.
They blatantly admitted to using offers as a way to decide who to pay attention to. If you don’t have a ton of offers, they don’t bother with you. They said that and grades are why Jefferson slipped through the cracks. They also said the Bama Bump is real because they trust Saban as an evaluator. He isn’t the only one, but he is a big one. I just thought it was crazy that they fully admitted to doing this.
While I understand that about Saban, people pay these guys good money to do this work, not rely on coaches to do it for them. I think it’s weak to basically admit that they bump most Bama guys just because Nick Saban offered them and then just fall in line with their own coverage.

Excellent commentary.
Reality is you and I could do as well as they do. They admit it.
