He runs a zone coverage scheme, which doesn't work well in college with top tier athletes in all honesty.

I guess he'd be a big name, but he doesn't really have a ton of DC experience.

The fact that he played and worked for Pete Carrol for over a decade and was still let go leaves me a little uneasy. Though I trust O to obviously talk to Pete about it.

That and the fact Pete Carrol has almost always fielded very good defenses and they were elite before Richard took over.

I think this would be a much more riskier hire than some are willing to admit.

Shoop or Chizik are safer bets and have much longer track records.
