Pretty odd he can't just postpone the interview for a once in a lifetime experience.
He plans on going back as a head coach

Not a political statement because it would be the same no matter who is in the White House, but I'd do the same thing if I was him.
His goal in life has been to be a head coach. He's an all business type and wants to get to work I'm sure.

Who's to say that he isn't going to meet the team there at some point tonight or in the morning?

If you're Baylor and you're filling the most important position in your entire athletic department and signing day staring you in the face, there's no time to waste. The new coach has to hit the ground running by calling recruits and hiring a staff.
