Pete Rose bet on the Reds almost every night

Except games started by Mario Soto.

Look at the lineups used when Soto started.

Rose rested starters for games he was going to bet.

Pete Rose is to blame for Pete Rose not being in the hall.

Part 3 is for gambling on things other than MLB games.

Really quite simple:

-stealing signals (like Spygate for the Pats) is a gamesmanship thing, a cheating violation yes but not something MLB will lay the hammer down over
-gambling and betting on games you play in (particularly considering baseball's shady history relating to this with organized crime and the Black Sox Scandal) implicates a TON more danger, corruption, illegality, and disrepute on the game than the former, doesn't help Rose much that he lied and he was caught in that lie

They seriously let the Stros keep their world series after discovering they stole signs
wtf does taking away a championship do in professional sports? I couldn’t think of anything more meaningless

What Rose did was infinitely worse than what Houston did.

Rose brought outside motives into games he managed, putting him in positions where he stood to benefit from things like keeping a pitcher in longer than usual, compromising the player’s safety, career longevity, and thus, future earnings. It’s an egregious conflict of interest.

What Houston did was cheat. They did nothing to compromise the physical health of the players.

I do think Rose should be in the Hall of Fame though. Everyone knows he has the most hits in the MLB.

Rose’s career and accomplishments are represented fairly and accurately in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The thing that he doesn’t have is a plaque in the west wing of the complex called the hall of fame. I think people overlook this; it isn’t as if Rose’s place in the history of the game is ignored.
