Not to sound like a "crazy conspiracy theorist", but I've often thought that perhaps these people are being either blackmailed or brainwashed/programmed to carry these attacks out.
Who stands to benefit from such a dastardly thing? Politicians who are looking for an excuse to remove our 2nd amendment right to bear arms (the very "right" we have granted that explicitly threatens them with death should they not do their fricking jobs).

There is much more poverty and less access to weapons in other countries, as well as less personal isolation and media influence. An inactive mind creates fantasies to make their life more exciting.

Aren’t these the same countries we’re supposed to want to emulate culturally and economically for being more focused on happiness and not money?
When American kids are 3 times as likely to be prescribed psychotropic drugs than their European counterparts, I don’t see how you can remove mental illness from the equation.
