I know it is said in passing that we have had a difficult schedule, but how does a schedule get so skewed?

LINK

As of today, we have played by a good margin the toughest schedule in the league. For the rest of the year, we will play the 26th toughest remaining schedule. Only the Clippers in the western conference have an easier schedule, no doubt helped by playing us vs us having to play them.

And this is all prior to playing the Lakers tonight, which will only make both of these numbers much stronger.

We are going to string together some wins here. There’s no question.

We haven’t played a single game against 5 of the bottom 6 teams in the East. Only one game against the Pistons as the sole outlier. Nor have we played Memphis in the west.

After tonight, we will have played the Lakers as many times as we have played all 7 of the bottom East teams combined.

A couple of things here:

1. Western Conference is tougher than Eastern Conference

2. Having Zion gave Pelicans more prime time games, for ratings, which makes our schedule harder.

3. Having Mavs, Rockets, Grizzlies, and Spurs in our division doesn't make our schedule any easier.

Lakers also received Arguably the easiest. Lebron paid off someone.
