A sequal to The Andromeda Strain, and a good one, even if Michael Chridhton isn't alive to write it. His work did inspire it.

It's an easy read, a fun read, and a I-Hate-to-put-it-down-read. Early one, the characters were so diverse, I wondered if it had been written by a committee. But that group differentiated into survivors and died interesting deaths.

It takes the story lines from the first book and continues them, and keeps them interesting. You'll see Chrichton's view of scientists, of government and of life there as well as the education (PhD level) of his "co-author" who has chops in robotics.

And the end is about as current as a book can be.

Some of the characters I really liked, and others I would hate to have worked with. They came across that real.
