THIS! You'll also save a ton of $$ vs the tourist trap of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. We still dedicate one day/night to walking the Gatlinburg strip.

This.... This is what I remember from my trips up to the Smokies over everything else when I use to come up here from Louisiana. Now that I live up this way, I make my living off the water up here and spend as much time as I can in the streams fly fishing and taking my daughter to have a blast in them too.
Get a nice cabin with a grill and go to the grocery store and do a couple meals there enjoying your family and the view too.
Candy kitchen and a pancake place is always a worthwhile visit too.
