When did you graduate?
I graduated in 96
Our senior year we all walked out of class to the sign to protest them letting in regular neighborhood kids into the school the next school year.
Until we were told we wouldn’t get to walk in our graduation if we didn’t go back to class.

I could see abandoning your moral values if you were not going to get the diploma you earned, but to cave in to walk across the stage for a HS diploma? You sound like a "regular neighborhood kid".
