Why do people say this? He started off incredibly popular. A sports loving, wine drinking, pope that literally washes the feet of poor people.
Is it because he's somewhat "progressive" with homosexuality and other things?
ETA:
I seriously don't know. Not trying to be argumentative. I haven't seen things he's done that make him a bad person, but I don't follow it closely. I think all organized religion is a fricking scam.
