Why are we giving do-over games and SECCG bye weeks to divisional runner-ups who lose to vastly inferior teams at home?

We aren't, Alabama wasn't a "vastly superior" team to LSU that year, but it was very evident that they were the better football team, and a lot of people across the country felt that way after the first game.

The competition for that spot that year did lose to a vastly inferior team, which is why they didn't get in.
