re: 4x16 vs 6x24 scope

250 yards isn’t really “stretching” it standards for a 3x9 scope, that is actually right in its wheel house. 4x16 would be used for shooting deer size game out to 500 yards. 6-24 would be used for shooting varmit size game at long ranges. I’d stick with a 3x9 scope and upgrade the quality of glass and maybe the reticle for the range you are shooting. Save your money and spend on binocular/rangefinder combo set up so you can spot and range your target, faster.
