re: In favor of LA opting out off daylight savings

When I was a kid we had DST during one winter, it was in the early mid 1970s. I think it was done because of the energy crisis. It was dark when we were at the school bus stop in the morning and many had safety concerns. That may have been why they switched back to standard time the next year.
