but maybe he’s right? Maybe it’s hard to beat a popular incumbent who is scandal free and pro-life and pro-gun in a VERY um...urban demographic.

Oh I’ve never said that he wasn’t formidable. Just that he was not invincible and was capable of losing and the opportunity was there.

GOP share of the electorate was at 52% in the first round.

Rispone was so terrible he managed to lose 3% of that in the runoff to drop to 49%.

That’s data the carpetbagger wants you to ignore to cover his arse.

Rispone didn't lose votes, the Dems managed to register and deliver more votes for JBE than they did in the primary. Rispone got 20k more votes in the General than all of JBE's opponents combined in the Primary.

Primary:
JBE: 625,970
All others combined: 717,511

General:
JBE: 774,498
Rispone: 734,286

Wrong 52% of the voters in the first primary, not nearly 52% of the electorate.

Rispone upped the vote against Edwards, but he couldn’t offset the Dem machine which went into overdrive to increase their turnout while Rispone failed to fire up hid side near as much.
