And demand credibility? Asking for a friend.

It's their own fault for not scheduling better OOC games. They tried with Florida State, they tried with USC in the last couple years. No way of knowing that those two teams would have the bad seasons they did. But they tried.
This year it's different. They schedule Duke of all teams, and nothing against Duke, but I think we can all agree that Duke's football program is not on par with Alabama's program.
The rest of all these cupcakes is also their own doing. They want credibility? Schedule better OOC games.

USC won the Pac 12 and finished ranked number 3 in the country that year lol

They were counting on running the table. Their one loss, with that schedule, will probably bite them in the arse.

Maybe I stand corrected on the bad season then. I thought it was the year before Helton gave Darnold the starting job. That's what I remembered about that. Maybe he gave Darnold the starting job after that game. It was a season opener, if I remember right.
In any event, regarding this season, they scheduled Duke. Doesn't help their SOS.

That was 2016. The last time USc finished with less than 3 losses was 2011. When did they schedule this game exactly?

I thought it was more recent but it was on Sept. 3, 2016. It was a season opener. Pretty sure it was played in Dallas/Arlington. Alabama won 52-6.

Tell me the last time USCw was relevant. I'll wait.

Where did I say they were?
I'm just pointing out that Bama has tried to schedule better OOC opponents. The USC thing apparently I had mixed up but I don't think that Darnold started that game. I think Helton made the move to make Darnold the starter a couple games after that, if memory serves.
Then they tried FSU and they were awful.
So what I was pointing out is that they have tried to have better OOC opponents in the past. This year, not so much.
I couldn't care less about what USC does. I'm not some advocate for USCw.
This year, Bama's scheduling hurt them. That's my point.

Sorry birdman. Just saying looking back 4-5 years from 2016 which is generally how early these games are scheduled, nobody was scared of the Trojans. So they tried, ??.

I mean I was wrong too. I thought they finished with a worse record than they did. They did finish the season at 10-3.
So they did try to schedule a better OOC opponent. Scheduling Duke this year is different. Don't you agree? And I have nothing against Duke. No disrespect to them at all. But chances are they wouldn't hang with Alabama. That's what I'm getting at.
That doesn't help their credibility, as you said, this year. And they can beat up on all these weaker teams. Again, that doesn't help their creditability, aka SOS.

Well, birdman, I tried to give thumbs up but phone decided question marks would be more appropriate.

All good, man. You have to use the emoticons here. Can't use those emojis on your phone.
Let's just get ready for this Saturday. Have a couchon de lait.

This is a lot easier on a laptop. Not often I get to stay up this late on a Wednesday night LOL.

Yeah, they always play a cupcake late in the year. Technically speaking, as long as they're playing cupcakes, it doesn't matter when, but we all know that isn't really true in the eye of the beholder who is making decisions.
To play a team like this in week 12, while other teams are playing big games, or at least conference games, where you don't have any control over scheduling, even if they are playing bad teams, is just a bad look. You need to be making statements down the stretch, more so than early in the year. Though all games matter, obviously.
I still think that if Penn Sate somehow wins the Big 10, that they'll jump Bama, and Ohio State would fall to 4th, if LSU wins out, of course. It's also possible that a 1 loss Pac 12 champ passes bama, but I'm not sold on that. I just think the Big 10 has clearly been superior to the Pac-12 this year, and beating Ohio State would jump Penn State significantly. And Tua being out makes a difference. I know the committee will say it doesn't matter, but that's a lie. I think without Tua, the committee will want a "sexier" team than a Mac Jones lead Alabama. Unless Alabama throttles Auburn and convinces the committee that they aren't missing a beat. I doubt that happens, though.

These conference championships have to mean something. Why have them if they don't count? This isn't directed at you, just thinking out loud.
You make a good point though, if Penn State beats tOSU. We'll find out soon enough.

The SEC changed the schedule starting next year with Bama playing A&M the week before Aubie.
