I think you're over rating LSU's defensive talent.
I believe their performance this season has been consistent with their real talent level, not their recruiting rankings.
DL and LB are not overly stocked with NFL talent as in past years. And while LSU is strong at CB, they are average at S. And due to depth issues are being forced to put true freshmen into important games in crucial situations.
20 years from now, no one is going to care how many yards JRP gained. We will look back and remember another win in what is turning into maybe the best LSU football season of all time.
Those of you all bent out of shape about Plumlee's performance ought to focus on the big picture, remember this was a 'let down' game for LSU, and that OM always fights their hardest against us.
If you've been watching OM at all this season you have to acknowledge that they are getting better every week. They battled against Bama and they gave us their absolute best shot. [They are going to whip MSU next week IMO]
If our defense is so damned 'talented', why couldn't any of them catch Plumlee? Or even tackle him consistently? Because LSU was out-manned. Period.
We need to stop getting high off our own supply and recognize that there are some limitations with our defensive personnel, and admit that the coaching has done a good job of covering up those weaknesses.
Not to mention that Burrow guy and what he's doing.
