Probably the classic examples of flying crashes was Mark Webber's and Peter Dumbreck's 1999 accidents in the Mercedes CLRs at Lemans.

Mercedes has the 3 most famous crashes at Lemans, 1955 and the two in 1999 and both caused Merc to stop racing there.

Forgot about the issues Merc had over the hump at the end of Mulsanne.

I did the same in the Nascar Racing sim 15 or so years ago. Could download the track, without chicanes, and hit that hump about 240 in a Cup car and over you went.
