Even worse. Those backpage girls don't make you a player, and the motorcycle/muscle car doesn't make you a badass. Can't blame you, because we all want to have that pull, but buying a costume doesn't change who you are.

Accept yourself for who/what you are. Be the best you you can be, meaningless sex and impressing strangers is limiting and short sighted.

Try traveling and experiencing the world from a non-tourist perspective. You may be surprised about the joy it brings you.
