Cus was dead way before the crash. The Jimmy Jacobs death was the nail that ended Tyson. Jacobs was able to keep him out of jail he employed Rooney and Atlas etc.

Jimmy Jacobs controlled everything in the Tyson camp.

And Matt Baranski was the no-bullshite strength and conditioning guy (D'Amato's choice) that kept Tyson on a brutal workout regimen from his first amateur fight and until Don King took over.

Not only this, but Cus died before Tyson won his first world title vs Trevor Berbick. The entire 6 year championship reign than earned him the moniker "the baddest man on the planet" that everyone remembers him for all happened after Cus.

Edit: I agree with everyone that once Tyson cut out all of the holdovers from Cus's camp from his team (Rooney, Baranski, etc...) that Tyson's career crashed. He was a headcase with no direction after that
