It's a massive waste of resources for starters. It's redundancy that isn't necessary. If we use our military in that capacity, CBP is insanely over-inflated. I know Trump's people love a huge federal government, but it's ridiculous to say CBP needs the military to help them do their job.

you get what you want out of the military dude
If you sign up thinking you're going to be Audie Murphy toting three squad automatic weapons into battle on the back of a war elephant... you're probably going to have a bad time... If you sign up thinking you aren't going to have to do stupid shite, and not have to listen to orders you think are dumb, but don't fully understand why you're even doing what you're told... you're probably going to have a bad time.
but if you sign up knowing that it's mostly just a job that involves a lot of mind games to get people into a state of readiness and operational competency, followed by doing a lot of actual work around whatever field you're in... realizing that said work is very likely going to sometimes be boring, repetitive, and even make no sense occasionally....
then you can probably also keep the attitude that you're looking at a much bigger picture, where you are simply a piece of a larger puzzle that only really works with all of its pieces.
once you've started working as one of those pieces... and function well... then you can get a lot out of it. trust me on this
for some guys, they aren't even taught basic life lessons, because they had shite parents or no parents at all...or divorced parents. I see this all the time with soys... some guys are caught up in a bad situation with no real escape, but they still want to make something of themselves.
dudes like that, going to college or getting a regular job usually just isn't an option.
but the military -whether or not you're obeying the orders of an admin you may disagree with... it's made up of people who can usually build men into a much better version of themselves, if they are willing to actually put in the effort on their part.
that's where they will learn those life lessons, along with career training, and will get opportunities they probably never would have had without it. if you disagree with what I'm saying then direct be to the correct info because I'm intimately familiar with this situation

Agreed. Loan them a drone or 2 and call it done
