I’m just curious why we are clapping on local government trying to improve local communities.
Because the degradation of the area is primarily a function of its residents not caring enough to keep it up. Fixing up the area should first come from the people living there putting forth their effort first.
There will be no incentive for them to keep the area up, in 5-10 years it will be about the same that it is now and they'll want it re-done all over again.
At best this will end up being lipstick on a pig.

I didn't read the entire thread. Have they given us an idea of how much tax money is going to be used for this project? What are we on the hook for?
