Been tossing around the idea of doing the 6 month subscription, but can't commit.

Is it worth it? What are y'alls opinions about it?

I’m in the same boat. There’s a lot of stuff I want but also a lot that I don’t.

If you are into other people deciding what vinyl you should have, it may be for you.

My understanding is that if you don't like the monthly featured record, then you can select something else.

Did I miss something?

I guess I didn’t understand they part. Still doesn’t appeal to me.

You can swap any or all of the three monthly tracks. I've been a member for 2+ years. Their quality is top notch. If they press an album you like don't even think about it get it. The classic track has a lot of jazz with some blues and classic soul mixed in. The hip hop track is all hip hop. The essentials track can be just about any genre but is usually widely considered great and/or important albums(past few albums were The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin, Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf, and next month will be Aretha Franklin - I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You). They also started doing anthologies. The first two were Blue Note and Motown.

That said they have been having problems with delays on the VMP exclusives which are records pressed exclusively by VMP but are not records of the month although you can swap to them provided they don't sell out.

Sounds like an endorsement.

What do you mean in the quote above? The records pressed exclusively for VMP?

It just means sometimes they press an exclusive ablum variant of some albums that are only available from VMP originally not counting resellers on discogs or ebay. It is basically the same quality as the records of the month but without all the extras.

I have bought several month to month including some exclusive non "ROTM" releases. I have:

Fugees The Score
Van Morrison Veedon Fleece
MMJ Z
Angel Olsens latest
Juvenile 400 Degrees
Hot Boys Guerilla Warfare
Mariah Carey Daydream
De La Soul 3 Feet High and Rising
Loretta Lynn Cole Miners Daughter

and maybe a few others. I'm impressed by their product but haven't committed month to month yet

My wife got me a subscription for Christmas. It has already turned me onto music that I didn't know about(some old jazz, funk and soul) and I haven't even received my first record yet. Got this on the way, along with two bonus records that were part of a gift promo.

Oh shite. I’ve never signed up for them, but just went to their site, and found out David Gray’s White Ladder is finally being released on vinyl, and you don’t have to be a member to purchase. I’ve been waiting a long time to add this record to my collection. It also states it’s remastered from the original tapes and pressed at QRP. Pre-ordered!

I thank you for starting this thread, otherwise this reissue might’ve slipped through the cracks for me.

No doubt. I love that album. There are three others in that pre order I'm pumped about. I had never heard of Honey Harper, but everything I've listened to is fantastic. I pre ordered that one as well.

I had a subscription for about a year or so. I'd say if you want to expand your musical taste or maybe just pick up some really cool looking and sounding vinyls, it might be worth it. For the most part, the monthly record was usually really good. There were only a few records that I wasn't really into. I ended up cancelling my subscription because I had other more important financial obligations at the time.
