Who cares what SCOTUS did. Is it ok or not ok to force a student to participate in a religious ritual or not?

It would be interesting to know on what grounds.

From what I gather based on the limited info in this thread...
1. There is what clearly seems to be a line of religious indoctrination via the assignment.
2. No alternative assignment was offered or allowed.

I am truly curious as to where the case fell apart.
