It was a cool tradition, but you could tell that the Tiger didn't really enjoy the cage on gameday. I was on field level for a few years and he was nervous as heck. Also, we have like 30k more people in the stadium that we used to so it's a lot more noise, lights, and all kinds of stuff for an animal to process than it used to be. I love Mike the Tiger, and I like the unique fear having him down there could put into an opposing team, but I think the new norm of having him across in his enclosure on gameday is better for him. I also like that all the fans can go get their pictures and see the Tiger on gameday rather than squinting to kind of see him pacing in the trailer at field level.
