She's Italian and some of her works have been translated. I have just started reading her Neopolitan series which starts with her as a young girl.
Her childhood in a poor area was so very different from my Anglo Saxon childhood in Virginia that I find I need to stop after a chapter or two, just to let the differences sink in.
Our library only has a few of her books, I am wondering if I need to make a major effort to pick up 'gently used' copies.

I have not heard of her, but her writing sounds interesting. I enjoy reading about life in other parts of the world, especially from a child's point of view. I'm only 22, so I like to reflect on my childhood and compare it to someone else's. Other people's stories fascinate me.
