As the title says...have a chance to bring my son fishing this wknd. Was thinking of trying the marsh behind Elmers for reds or maybe the bay behind the island...any reports or advice?

east 10-15 knots which usually ends up being 20
they have live shrimp as of yesterday, I'd buy some and head to the protected marsh (I'd start north of LA 1 between grand isle and fourchon). should run into some reds and maybe a few bonus trout that have transitioned already

or launch in fourchon and stay in the marsh, that area stays really protected in high winds

A couple weekends ago we fished the marsh between grand isle and Leeville and then fished the marsh near Fourchon and destroyed the reds. They were thick in numbers and caught zero rats.

Assuming you are talking about that marsh east of the bridge and north of Hwy 1?

I look at that marsh every time I go down. I have thought to myself that it looks like there should be redfish in there. Think I'm going to take your advice and give it a whirl.

Correct. Very easy limits a few weekends ago with really high tides. Fish should still be there but you never know until you try.

Surprises me there’s any left with how many bow hunters are in that area every night
