I’m in big data. Last year we repositioned our team. At the time there were 8 of us under a certain manager that was awful. Transferred under a new manager and within the following 3 months 5 of the 8 quit, one took a new internal position, and one is 60 years old and doesn’t do anything anyway.

So, it’s my new manager (who I have a great relationship with), and me. In the last 10 months I have defined workflows as if I were starring from scratch, built new economic models, stream lined our entire process, and made it to where we can now operate comfortably with 4 of us (minus the old guy).

I helped a 20 billion dollar company save 3 or more salaries, and I got a free lunch out of the deal.
