Down. Bad lies happen. When you get in a tourney and have to play it down, you are used to it. Also, if you keep a handicap and use it for betting or tournaments, you are hurting yourself.

We bump the ball around. The way I look at it we are not playing pga caliber courses. And if they let you do it in tourneys around here then why not do it on weekend play

We play the ball as it lies everywhere on typical day
If carts are on path we play is down everywhere except fairway and mark, clean and replace
Not scorecard or club length unless casual water is in play
Similar to what PGA tour does
USGA events are much more strict than the PGA
For a group of buddies enjoying the game there is nothing wrong with bumping and moving the ball around as long as you know that this type of golf is not acceptable in tournaments
