Good luck with that, considering fans won't care about your teams if they aren't eligible to play for championships.

I don’t know about all that. If all the top athletes go to the schools willing to pay them, (and they will because they do now, it’s just under the table payments), people will flock to watch the better players play. Nobody watches the Ivy League schools anymore because they suck, but people tune in to Clemson and Alabama even if they are not fans of those teams.

The TV money will go wherever the people go.

Nobody cares about games that don't matter. It doesn't matter how many talented players you put on the field. Just look at the pro-bowl. Who cares about that game? It's full of all stars, but it's a boring, meaningless game. I don't know where people come up with this idea that fans are just drones who follow the big names. People care about games that matter. People watch Clemson and Alabama because they have been playing each other either in the semi finals, or the title game. Not because they have the best players. The fact that they have the best players is how they get there, but if there are no stakes involved, it doesn't matter.

When you know that neither team in a game is playing for anything that matters, it's not interesting to the masses.
