Can you explain why Clemson gave up 600 yards and 35 points to South Carolina and only 16 points to Alabama? It wasn't because South Carolina had a better Offense based on stats.

The offenses teams are running these days are better or more productive scoring and gaining yards. The transitive property does not really seem to apply as nothing is equal in sports along with comparisons of players and teams in different years.

Comparing different seasons and in this case different decade is just not reasonable. The old we beat them and they lost to them means we are better than they also does not apply in sports. The games are played to determine the winner of the game and yes we keep stats of each game but stats do not win and teams with the better stats tend to rise to the top similar to the recruiting rankings where the teams finishing to the top win championships.

Chavis had a great career at Tenn and LSU and his defenses kept LSU in most of the games while he coached under Les. Chavis was fortunate to have an offense the ate up the clock giving his players time to rest and the opposing offenses were not like the RPO we play now. No way to compare Chavis to Aranda
