Very few people are “moderates”. Most “moderates” and “independents” are really just people afraid to tell you what they really think.

It’s why the Republicans failed for years while courting them so hard.

I dont see independents being timid about their true feelings, I believe it's just that they dont typically get worked up ideologically speaking to the extent that your solid Ds and Rs do.

It's more pragmatism than ideology.

I'll disagree here. I think extremism to any party breeds a vocal majority.

So you end up with a silent majority that just doesn't speak up for a myriad of reasons.

Easy example. The people protesters for chik fil a. Most people love it, but you won't see a counter protest.
