Be honest, would y’all actually be surprised if we still ended up a top defense?

First off the Texas game was situational being a shootout. Second the whole IV thing.

I just don’t think our defense is bad at all. They had a bad 2nd half against Texas but let’s remember they only gave up 7 in the 1st half. I still fully expect this defense to be top 5 in CFB and I have no reservations about that prediction.

Id be shocked since that's maybe happened once in the history of the LSU foosball

**My answer was prior to the OP changing his question. Originally he predicted we'll be the #1 defense, not a 'top defense'.

No. It was just one of those games. They’ll get it figured out. Also, they won’t see a qb like ehlinger again until Tua

We were in position all game to make stops and kept letting them fall forward. If we can improve on tackling then it should be fine.

I've been telling people all week to go back and look at the score from Bama's Ole Miss game from 2015 & 2016. One game doesn't define an entire unit. We will be fine.

Yeah I’d be shocked. They got abused in the 2nd half. A&M and UCF stick out too. I just don’t think they’re dominant. They don’t need to be though. Just need to be good enough.

Yes. #1 defenses don't have a 38 point game on their schedule. Statistically, it's probably impossible for us to end up with the #1 defense.

Would I be surprised if we ended up with a top 10 defense - No.

I expect this defense to grade our very well in the advanced metrics.

The counting metrics will be skewed by TOP and other factors.

As long as we end each game with more points than the other team, I don't care.

I think this defense will be extremely dominant, but time will tell.

If LSU figures it out within the next month, SEC is in trouble

Exactly. Clemson’s defense was DOMINANT at the end of the season last year. It gave up 501 yards to freaking Kellen Mond last year on about this same weekend. Ehlinger is a fantastic QB. Better than Mond for sure.

Top 5 with our schedule ? No.
Top 2 or 3 in the SEC ? Yes.
And if the offense keeps rolling, that’s plenty good enough to win the conference

No I still think this defense is very good. How we looked in the first half is how I expect it to be most of the year. Have to remember the defense really started letting up once guys started getting hurt/cramping in the 2nd half and multiple guys missed key drives. I do wish we had 1 more reliable cover guy. I’m hoping to see more of Flott over the next few weeks. Ward is back as well.

I hope so man. This Saturday should have been a humbling experience for a lot of them.

We play 2 good offenses. Not like we have A&M or South Carolina’s Schedule.
