Michelle Obama’s father was an employee of the city of Chicago. They lived in an apartment rented to them by their aunt.

In addition, her father was a Democrat precinct captain, which in Chicago, almost assuredly meant there was money under the table.

The Robinsons weren’t necessarily well off, but they certainly weren’t poor, either. You’ve been sold a bill of goods.
